Jim earned an MA from New York University and a PhD from the University of Michigan. He is on the faculty at Boston University and Tufts University, and he is a Fellow of the American Academy in Rome.

Nate earned a triple major in Biochemistry, Cognitive Sciences, and Psychology at Rice University, his MD/PhD at Georgetown University, and his PhD in Neuroscience at the National Institutes of Health.
