Jimmy is a Lecturer on Law at UCLA Law, a pro bono attorney with Bet Tzedek Legal Services, and a PhD candidate in Sociology & Social Policy at Harvard. He completed his JD at Harvard Law School in 2021. Originally from Los Angeles, Jimmy graduated from Harvard College, magna cum laude, in 2014 with a degree in Social Studies and English.
Jimmy has been a tutor with Cambridge Coaching for 6 years. During graduate school, he spent 6 years as the resident LGBTQ+ and pre-law tutor in Eliot House, one of Harvard's twelve residential colleges. There, he advised dozens of students on pre-law admissions each year and helped many secure admissions to all the Top 14 schools. For his work as a resident tutor at Harvard, he was awarded the John Marquand Award, as well as the Dingman Award for Peer Advising Fellows. At Harvard Law School, he was active with the Prison Legal Assistance Project, the Civil Rights-Civil Liberties Law Review, and the Protect Democracy Clinic. He completed internships with the Los Angeles Public Defender's Office and Munger Tolles & Olson. His doctoral research is focused on links between equity-focused public policies, features of neighborhoods and schools, and children's chances of upward intergenerational mobility. His current project traces the rise and fall of racial integration as the ideological focus of social policy, and the subsequent emergence of competing ideologies. Jimmy has tutored in many academic subjects, coached JD, college, and graduate school admissions, and prepared students for the LSAT, SAT, ACT, and GRE. His students have secured admission to Harvard, Yale, Princeton, USC, Berkeley, and Claremont McKenna, among others.
Outside of school, Jimmy can be found drinking copious amounts of Diet Coke, making spreadsheets about almost everything, or taking full advantage of the HBO Go archive.
