Jonathan W.
Jonathan is an MPA student at Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs. He earned his Bachelor's from Tufts University, where he double-majored in Politcal Science and Economics.

Julia P.
Julia holds a BA from Princeton University in English Literature, with certificates in Theater and Music Theater. Her thesis won the Alan Downer prize for research in English and drama. Currently, she works in theatrical costuming.

Charlotte
Charlotte holds a BA with first class honors and distinction in English and Spanish from Oxford University, an MA in Hispanic Studies from Brown, and a postgraduate certificate in translation from the University of Warwick. She has taught Spanish at Brown University and the York School.

Troy
Troy graduated cum laude from Yale, where they received their BA in Ethics, Politics, and Economics. Afterwards, Troy taught middle school math and science in Mississippi as a Teach For America (TFA) Corp Member and led professional development for TFA science teachers in the region.

Andrew So.
Andrew graduated from Columbia University cum laude, where he studied history and English. He then received a Fulbright Fellowship to study for an MA at Tel Aviv University, where he graduated summa cum laude with an MA in history.

David Br.
David holds a BA in English (Bates College) and MA in Teaching (Simmons College). He has been a freelance writer for 15 years and an English teacher for nearly 5 years.

Daniel Be.
Daniel is a contributing writer for the New York Times Magazine and author of 5 books of literary nonfiction. He holds an MFA in Fiction (Columbia University), and has taught at Saint Ann's School, Columbia University, and elsewhere.

Mariam R.
Mariam Rahmani is a writer and translator. Rahmani holds a PhD in Comparative Literature from UCLA and an MFA in Fiction from Columbia University, as well as degrees from Princeton and Oxford. She currently serves on the faculty of Bennington College and is a postdoctoral Fellow with the American Council for Learned Societies in 2023-24.

Anna F.
Anna graduated from Harvard University with a BA in English and a minor in Linguistics and Language Theory. While at Harvard, she was a curriculum editor for the Mamelodi Initiative in South Africa. She holds an MFA in Acting from UC Irvine.

Natalia Ic.
Natalia received her BA in History from the City College of New York. She went on to earn a Master's of Science in General and Special Childhood Education at the Bank Street College of Education.

Adrienne
Adrienne received her English PhD from Harvard University, her MFA from the Iowa Writers' Workshop, and her BA from Princeton University. She is a nonfiction writer and poet, and teaches in the Writing Program at Princeton University.

Alice Wa.
Alice studied English Literature at Wellesley College and graduated cum laude with honors. Currently, Alice is studying at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, specializing in Teaching and Curriculum. She's conducting her practicum at Arlington High School, where she teaches 9th grade English.

Sarah R.
Sarah graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude with an Honors English degree from Bates. After taking her Fulbright Scholarship to teach ESL in the Czech Republic, she completed her Masters of Arts in Teaching at Harvard’s Graduate School of Education.

Roland
Roland is an award-winning author and illustrator. His biography of Arthur Ransome won a Jerwood Award from the Royal Society of Literature and the HW Fischer Prize from the Biographer’s Club. His illustrations for Lev Grossman’s best-selling Magicians trilogy were published in the New Yorker. Roland is currently writing and illustrating a series of novels for children.

Helen G.
Helen graduated magna cum laude from Brandeis University with a dual degree in International/Global Studies and French/Francophone Studies, as well as a minor in East Asian Studies. After working in Shanghai, China for 5 years, she returned to Massachusetts to pursue her Masters of Education in Human Development and Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Nadja
Nadja graduated from The Dalton School early, moving on to earn her BA in Psychology at Yale University, cum laude. Nadja was recently selected as a Fulbright Scholar and will serve in Kenya as an English teacher for high school and university students.

Emilija
Emilija has a BA in Sociology from Queen’s University, and three Montessori MACTE teaching certifications from the Toronto Montessori Institute for children ages 2.5 through 12. Emilija completed an MA in International Studies in Education at the University of Birmingham, and an M.Ed in Educational Leadership, Organization and Entrepreneurship at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She also has her Primary Years International Baccalaureate teaching license from the IBO.

Anna Tw.
Anna holds an MFA in Acting from the Shakespeare Theatre Company/George Washington University and an MA in Acting from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Previously, she earned her BA in Creative Writing from Stanford University.

Linda L.
Linda has 36 years of classroom experience. She taught English at Cambridge Rindge and Latin School; started a small school, the Social Justice Academy, in Boston; taught Composition and Research to college students in Missouri (Stephens) and Massachusetts (Bentley); and helped lead the John D. O’Bryant School of Mathematics and Science to its number 5 state-wide ranking.

Hannah L.
Hannah earned her BA from Yale University, where her undergrad poetry thesis won her Yale’s Frederick Mortimer Clapp Fellowship. Hannah earned her MFA from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and her PhD in English PhD from the University of Virginia.

Amy T.
Amy attended Stanford University, where she majored in Urban Sustainability and minored in Italian, graduating Phi Beta Kappa. Amy went on to receive her MFA in Creative Writing from Hollins University, where she was a Dillard Fellow and received the Andrew James Purdy Prize in Short Fiction.

Olivia M.
Olivia is a 2016 graduate of Harvard University (cum laude) in English and Mind/Brain/Behavior. She also holds a Master of Studies in English (1900-present) from St. Catherine's College, University of Oxford (2017). Olivia works as both a professional tutor and theatre director in the UK.

Sam H.
Sam graduated cum laude from Harvard College with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Literature. She has professional experience working as a paralegal and a classroom English teacher. She is now pursuing her JD at the University of Pennsylvania.

Julia H.
Julia double majored in Global Studies and Spanish Linguistics at the University of California, Berkeley. Her thesis on microfinance loans earned her Honors in Global Studies, and she graduated magna cum laude and as a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society.

Brian P.
Brian holds a PhD in English Literature at Rutgers University, where his research was supported by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the Modern Language Association, and the Folger Shakespeare Library. His prize-winning personal essays have appeared in Avidly, Literary Hub, TriQuarterly, and Electric Literature.

Sarah H.
Sarah pursued her interest in the western European canon by studying the Great Books program at St. John’s College in Maryland. She then went on to receive her Master’s in Comparative Literature at Columbia, where she focused on the nineteenth-century European novel.

Colin M.
Colin attended New York University, where he earned a BA in French (magna cum laude) and an MA in French Studies (cum laude). He then went on to study at Brooklyn College, where he received an MSEd (Special Education - summa cum laude). He is a former middle school special education teacher and department head in the New York City school system.

Sarah Ha.
Sarah graduated from Brown University and the Rhode Island School of Design with a dual degree in Comparative Literature and Painting. After earning her MFA in Painting at Yale, she went on to teach first grade at Saint Ann’s School in Brooklyn.

Kyra G.
Kyra attended Brown University, where she studied English and Nonfiction Writing and graduated with honors, magna cum laude, and Phi Beta Kappa. She is currently pursuing her MFA in Nonfiction Writing at the University of Iowa.

Micaela
Micaela holds an EdD in Urban Leadership and Diversity Equity and Inclusion from Johns Hopkins, an MEd from the University of Pennsylvania, and a BA in English from Union College.

Katherine J.
Katherine holds an MFA in Poetry from the University of Virginia and a BA in Literary Arts from Brown University. She is a 2024-25 Fulbright Grant Awardee to France, where she will work at the intersection of text and textile, researching the history of silk manufacturing, learning to weave, and writing poems.

Sophia Sc.
Sophia holds a BA in History from Northwestern University and an MS in Education from the University of Pennsylvania. She is now a PhD Candidate in History at Columbia University.

Jordyn
Jordyn graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a major in American History and minors in Political Science and Urban Education. After teaching English in Spain on a Fulbright for the 2022-2023 academic year, she began pursuing her EdM and instructional certification in social studies at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Nickm
Nick earned his Bachelor’s with high honors in English, cum laude, from Rutgers University. He then earned a Master’s in English Language Arts Education at Rutgers. He has since accrued a decade of classroom teaching experience in public and private high schools in the US and China.

Lizzy
Lizzy graduated magna cum laude from Barnard College with a double major in English Literature and Art History (Visual Arts concentration). After earning their MFA in Sculpture/Interdisciplinary Media from Yale, they now teach digital media and design at SUNY Old Westbury and graduate writing for artists at Columbia University.

Sebastian
Sebastian holds a BA in East Asian Studies from Yale University. Sebastian is a teacher and performing artist/producer, having created custom music for Pokemon GO! and taught music production to underprivileged youth in San Francisco.

Rhian
Rhian majored in English Literature and was an editor of several on-campus literary journals and newspapers at Smith College. She next pursued her MFA in Fiction at NYU.

Christopher S.
Christopher majored in International Studies at Boston College, with a focus on Political Economy and Development Studies. Christopher also minored in French, and graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. Currently, he is completing a Master's in Theological Studies at Harvard with a focus on Religion, Ethics, and Politics.

Alexv
Alex majored in History and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from Barnard College, where she received the Jane Gould Prize for Outstanding Senior Thesis, in addition to receiving honorable mention for Columbia University’s Women’s and Gender Studies Essay Award Contest. She next pursued a Master of Arts from Columbia University in Eastern European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies. She is now pursuing a degree at Hunter College in the Adolescent Social Studies program.

Ben F.
After graduating summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Brown University, Ben worked full-time as a K-12 educator, first in New York City and then in Madrid, Spain, before returning to New England to pursue a Master of Divinity at Harvard Divinity School, from which he graduated in 2020.

Lauren B.
Lauren attended UCLA, where she majored in Communications Studies and graduated summa cum laude. After pursuing her Master of Education at Harvard, Lauren is now a high school English teacher.

Robert R.

Tutor Tiers
We have four tiers of tutor, with different hourly rates, which correlate to the tutor’s experience. We evaluate tutors for promotion to higher tiers based on hours worked, student outcomes, qualitative feedback, and volume of client referrals.
