Sarah Waltcher
Director of Tutor Experience and Instructional Design

As the Director of Tutor Experience and Instructional Design, Sarah leads our tutor-facing team in hiring and onboarding tutors, developing their teaching practice, and equipping them with practical and pedagogical tools to support their tutoring. Sarah first joined Cambridge Coaching as a tutor and has spent over 500 hours working with our students.
 
Sarah was born and raised in New York City and attended Dartmouth College. She also has a PhD in English from the University of Oxford, where she was a Rhodes Scholar. Prior to joining Cambridge Coaching, Sarah worked as a High School English teacher, designing and implementing curriculum for American Literature and World Literature courses. She is passionate about educational equity and has worked with organizations like Breakthrough Collaborative, Strengthening Educational Access with Dartmouth, and the GO Project. Outside the classroom, Sarah has also worked as an academic editor, helping over 100 scholars, researchers, and students communicate their ideas with clarity, structure, and style.
 
Sarah’s free time is filled with reading, writing, and outdoor activities like hiking, biking, and picnicking in parks around Washington DC. Sarah is also an avid watcher of film, theater, stand-up comedy, and reality TV.

Writing Our Way Home with Terry Tempest Williams at Dartmouth. This creative writing course introduced me to the environmental humanities, which continues to shape my thinking about literature and the world.
