Terry holds a BA in English and French (Amherst), and an MPhil in European Literature & Culture (University of Cambridge). He holds a PhD in French Language and Literature from NYU and currently teaches at Vassar.

Peter K.
Peter is a PhD student in German at Columbia University. Prior to grad school, he earned a BMus in Musical Arts with distinction from Eastman, and, simultaneously, a BA in German Studies from University of Rochester.

Emma Zc.
Emma holds a PhD in French Literature from Harvard University. Previously, she earned her BA and BM, summa cum laude, from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. Her doctoral dissertation examined the representation of music as a tool of social critique in the modern French novel.

After Ezra graduated from Harvard with a BA in Social Studies, he received the Trustman Traveling Fellowship and went to Peru to study the Chinese diaspora. He is now the Artist-in-Residence at the Signet Society at Harvard.

Daniel holds a BA in English & French literature and Chinese language (University of Texas), a JD (Yale Law), an MA in Sinology (University of London), and a PhD in Chinese Legal History (UC Berkeley). He is currently a Postdoctoral Research Scholar at Columbia Law School.

Dan L.
Dan is a Rhodes Scholar currently completing his Master's in Global Health Science and Epidemiology at Oxford. Previously, Dan conducted research at the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT.

Ariana M.
Ariana holds a BA in International Relations and Asian Studies (Dartmouth College). Next, she worked as a paralegal in international trade remedy litigation before pursuing her JD at Columbia Law. She currently works in International Capital Markets.

Alicia C.
Alicia is a PhD student in Linguistics at NYU. She graduated magna cum laude from Washington University in St. Louis, with a BA in Linguistics and Data Science and a BA in Spanish with a minor in Music.

Nate L.
Nate earned a triple major in Biochemistry, Cognitive Sciences, and Psychology at Rice University, his MD/PhD at Georgetown University, and his PhD in Neuroscience at the National Institutes of Health. After completing his neurology residency at Stanford, he will begin his fellowship in neuroimmunology at Johns Hopkins.

Emily F.
Emily is an Assistant Professor of Humanities at Utah Tech University, specializing in philosophy and religious studies. After living abroad for several years post-college, she returned to New York - her home state - to earn her PhD in Philosophy of Religion at Columbia University. During that time, she served as a Teaching Scholars Fellow at Columbia and taught several courses in the Philosophy and Critical Thought department at SUNY Purchase.

Sarah R.
Sarah graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude with an Honors English degree from Bates. After taking her Fulbright Scholarship to teach ESL in the Czech Republic, she completed her Masters of Arts in Teaching at Harvard’s Graduate School of Education.

Alyssa R.
Alyssa studied Government and East Asian Studies at Harvard University, where she graduated magna cum laude and received the Eric Firth Prize for her senior thesis. She is looking forward to attending law school in the fall of 2022, and she has been accepted to Yale Law School and Stanford Law School.

Min
Min graduated summa cum laude from Ursinus College with a BS in Biology and Applied Ethics, and was awarded the Senior Alumni Award, recognizing her promise of making significant contributions to and leadership in their careers and their community. Min is now studying at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, hoping to give smiles to those in need.

Jack Ra.
Jack graduated from University of Massachusetts, Amherst, with a BA in Chinese and a BA in Linguistics, graduating summa cum laude in both degrees. During undergrad, Jack received the Global Ambassador Summer Program Scholarship and studied at National Cheng Kung University in Tainan. Jack is currently pursuing his PhD in Linguistics at Harvard University.

Baoqing
Baoqing was born and raised in Beijing, where she graduated from Beijing Language and Culture University with a BA in English, before moving to the US in 2014. In the US, Baoqing taught at the Western Michigan University before getting her MA in teaching Chinese at University of Massachusetts Amherst. Baoqing is currently a lecturer of Chinese at Boston University.

Samantha F.
Samantha graduated summa cum laude from Cornell University with a BS in Human Biology, Health & Society and a minor in Education. After obtaining her Master in Medical Education at the University of Nottingham as a Fulbright Scholar, she is now an MD Candidate at NYU.

Xavier
Xavier graduated from Yale College in 2019 with a BS in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology. He went on to earn his PhD in Neuroscience from Columbia University, where he worked at the intersection of organic chemistry and pharmacology. Currently, Xavier is a scientist at Alpha Genesis, Inc., the largest primate breeding and research facility in the United States, where he advances biomedical research through pre-clinical trials and collaborations with pharmaceutical companies and academic research labs.

Helen G.
Helen graduated magna cum laude from Brandeis University with a dual degree in International/Global Studies and French/Francophone Studies, as well as a minor in East Asian Studies. After working in Shanghai, China for 5 years, she returned to Massachusetts to pursue her Masters of Education in Human Development and Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Jenny M.
Jenny currently teaches English literature at St. Johnsbury Academy. She holds degrees from Dartmouth College, Trinity College at the University of Oxford, and the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.

Sofia
Sofía has a BA in Journalism from the University of Southern California and an MA in Education Leadership from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She also holds an MEd in Bilingual Teacher of Students with Disabilities in Adolescent Education, Grade 7-12 from City College. Currently, Sofía is a middle school bilingual SPED teacher in NYC, working with Spanish speakers in humanities content areas (writing, reading, social studies).

Brandon H.
Brandon currently teaches at Georgetown University. He holds a PhD in Cultural Anthropology from Princeton, a JD from Georgetown University, and an MA and BA in Latin American Studies from UT at Austin.

Layla
Layla is an MD Candidate at Harvard Medical School. Previously, she graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a BA in Writing Seminars and a minor in Islamic Studies. Her post-grad fellowship conducting ovarian cancer research at the National Center for Advancing Translational Science culminated in her choice to pursue a career in medicine.

Maya C.
Maya graduated summa cum laude with a BA in Religious Studies and Political Science and minors in French and Conflict Studies from DePauw University. As a Fulbright grantee, Maya taught English to over 200 students in Morocco. She's currently an MPP Candidate at the Harvard Kennedy School.

Linda L.
Linda has 36 years of classroom experience. She taught English at Cambridge Rindge and Latin School; started a small school, the Social Justice Academy, in Boston; taught Composition and Research to college students in Missouri (Stephens) and Massachusetts (Bentley); and helped lead the John D. O’Bryant School of Mathematics and Science to its number 5 state-wide ranking.

Amalia Gr.
Amalia completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan in Biology (Honors) where she graduated with High Distinction and Phi Beta Kappa. After earning her MD/MBA at the University of Michigan, she is now a Resident in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Johns Hopkins.

Kendall G.
Kendall is a doctoral candidate in Politics at the University of Oxford with a specialization in political theory. Before moving to the United Kingdom as a Marshall Scholar, Kendall attended Tulane University, where she graduated summa cum laude in two degrees – a BA in Political Science and a BSM in Legal Studies in Business.

Kirby C.
Kirby holds a PhD in French with a concentration in Second Language Acquisition and Teacher Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is a Senior Lecturer of French at Boston University.

Andrew St.
Andrew received a BA from Columbia University, where he graduated magna cum laude and double majored in American Studies and English. After earning his MFA in Poetry at Brooklyn College, Andrew is now an adjunct lecturer at CUNY.

Chenguang
Upon graduation from Dartmouth, Chenguang received the James B. Reynolds scholarship to study for an MPhil at the University of Cambridge in Physiology, Development, and Neuroscience. She is now pursuing a PhD at Harvard in Biophysics.

Giselle
Giselle is a Master Lecturer and the Arabic Coordinator in the Department of World Languages and Literatures at Boston University’s College of Arts & Sciences. She holds an MA and a PhD in Applied Linguistics.

Amy T.
Amy attended Stanford University, where she majored in Urban Sustainability and minored in Italian, graduating Phi Beta Kappa. Amy went on to receive her MFA in Creative Writing from Hollins University, where she was a Dillard Fellow and received the Andrew James Purdy Prize in Short Fiction.

Rayen
After graduating with an IB diploma from the American International School Nido de Aguilas in Santiago, Chile, Rayen attended The University of Chicago and graduated with a degree in Public Policy. She scored a 175 on the LSAT and will be attending law school.

Haley H.
Haley graduated from UC Berkeley with a BA in History. She recently graduated from California State University, where she earned a degree in Speech Language Pathology.

Helen W.
Helen is an MD Candidate at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. Previously, she studied Arabic and graduated from the University of Michigan with a major in Middle Eastern Studies and minor in Biology.

Prateek
Prateek is a Lecturer and Coordinator of the Center for Arts & Language at the Rhode Island School of Design. He holds a Master’s in Cultural Studies and Critical Theory from RISD and a BA in Architectural Design from the School of Planning and Architecture (New Delhi).

After teaching English at the national medical school in Laos as a Fulbright Scholar, he earned his MD at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine on a full tuition scholarship. He is currently an Emergency Medicine resident physician in Colorado.

Victor Od.
Victor double majored in Complex Systems and Mathematics at Cornell, where he graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He starts his PhD in Applied Math at Princeton in September 2024.

With a Bachelor's degree from Hamilton College and a Master’s Degree in Chinese Language Pedagogy from Middlebury College, Serena specializes in teaching Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, and American Sign Language.

Eduardo is currently a faculty member in the Minnesota State system, where he teaches interdisciplinary composition, writing, and literature courses in the English department. Elaine graduated from the University of Florida with a dual BA in Linguistics and Spanish Language and Culture and a minor in Russian Language and Culture. Upon completion of her undergraduate degree, she received a Fulbright English Teaching Award and a Critical Language Enhancement Scholarship. She holds an MA in Russian Literary Translation and a PhD in Slavic Languages from Columbia University.

Susan P.
Susan earned her BA in International Economics and Chinese from the University of Notre Dame. After working as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Taiwan and pursuing a master’s fellowship at the Yenching Academy of Peking University, Susan is now a JD Candidate at Harvard Law School.

Alexis
graduated with Special Honors and Phi Beta Kappa from the City University of New York, Hunter College. There, she double majored in Political Science and Human Rights (winning the 2020 Best Capstone Paper) and double minored in Asian American Studies and Chinese Language and Literature. Becca B.
Becca graduated summa cum laude from Harvard College with a degree in Government and Romance Languages & Literatures. She received a Harvard post-graduate fellowship and is now living in Turkey, where she works for an NGO that serves refugee youth along the Turkish-Syrian border.

Lin is currently a Chinese Language Teacher for Grades 9-12 at Greenwich High School. Tutor Tiers
We have four tiers of tutor, with different hourly rates, which correlate to the tutor’s experience. We evaluate tutors for promotion to higher tiers based on hours worked, student outcomes, qualitative feedback, and volume of client referrals.
